Just so, can I use a regular socket to remove spark plugs?
You can use a regular socket, with that being said you need to be very careful. A spark plug socket has a washer on the end so that socket is always sitting fully down and straight. With a regular socket you will have wobble at the top.
Likewise, what is the difference between a spark plug socket and a regular socket? Spark plug sockets are just what they sound like—they are for removing or fitting a spark plug into an engine. Spark plug sockets are much longer than standard sockets. This type of socket will also frequently come with a rubber insert that prevents the spark plug from becoming damaged while the wrench is working.
Correspondingly, are all spark plugs the same size socket?
Not all plugs are the same size. There are the common spark plug sockets used with a common-sized spark plug socket wrench which are very popular and used in many different types of cars. But you cannot be really sure that your vehicle uses these. You should find out the type of the socket and then check the size.
What size socket do I need for NGK Spark Plugs?
A plugs hex size determines the socket required for installation. While 5/8″ (16mm) and 13/16″ are the two most common plug hex sizes, plugs can have a hex as small as 8mm or larger than 1″.
